Next up on our wedding event checklist: our engagement party! We threw this little fete together very quickly as soon as we got engaged, because we knew both of our families would be in town for Will’s graduation. What better time would we have to get everyone together and celebrate with all of our Nashville friends too? Graduation weekend was the perfect time, so we booked the rooftop space of Will’s apartment building, ordered some tacos, and sent some invitations for a casual open house on May 8, 2014. It was a great afternoon, and we were thrilled that so many were able to make it!
It is so much fun to look back at this happy time, but it’s also bittersweet, as we miss so many of these friends! I love that these photos hold so much joy and capture these friendships. We are too transient these days, people. Moving is hard.
The view from the space
Thankfully we had our friend Ellen on hand again to photograph the day: thank you, Ellen! Apparently we decided to get a little dancing in before the guests arrived.
Ah that just-engaged feeling!
The Decor
We kept it really simple for this last-minute celebration, very casual and very Nashville. We used lots of pink and gold as a play off our proposal photos, but let’s be honest, I need no excuse to decorate with hot pink.
Our parents and grandparents were so helpful bringing food and drinks and getting it all set up.
Condensation fail. But we had margaritas and mojitos on tap.
Family Photos
It was the first time we had our families all together!
This is the Moser side of the family who we get to see this weekend!
I love this photo of us with Will’s mom and Uncle Dave. (We now have THREE Uncle Davids between the two of us.)
Bloopers!
Me and mom!
The Rest of Our Guests Arrive!
All of these people were so good to us when we lived in Nashville. It’s so amazing to have some good pics with so many people we love from this time of our lives. So excuse me while I inundate this page with party snapshots.
Friends mingling!
I miss these ladies so much. We were in a Bible study together, and they are some of my closest friends in Nashville.
More friends I miss. Ellen and I used to walk Pippa in the afternoons together, and it was such a great break from real life.
Elizabeth and Christine! Two of my closest girlfriends.
On the left is Thatch’s mom, whom we miss a lot, and luckily we still get to see the Snows.
How beautiful is this family? AJ is the BEST.
My dad with Janie and Kermit!
Winding Down the Party
I will always remember ending the party on these couches with our some of our closest Nashville friends. We were so content and excited about the future, and we knew how blessed we were to have these people there to rejoice with us. Thanks, friends.
I love these people, and this is when baby Emily was on her way!
Likely saying, “It’s so sparklyyyyyy!”
At the end of the party, the best part of all the celebrations is they meant I got to keep this guy.
