We had the best weekend with Will’s mom, Kathy, and one of the highlights was our Saturday outing to Burnside Farms in Haymarket, VA! I am all about going to farms in the fall for apple and pumpkin picking, but I had no idea there was an equivalent for spring! Well, leave it to Southern Living to alert me to this delightful pick-your-own tulip and daffodil farm on their Instagram last week. I immediately clicked the location and couldn’t believe it was thirty minutes from our apartment! And so a new seasonal tradition was born.

There were some somewhat cheesy Dutch elements involved, in that they had a windmill and wooden shoes you could wear around the farm, but I didn’t hate it!
The farm provides baskets, and the tulips are $1 each and another $1 if you want to keep the bulb to plant at home! You just pull the tulips straight up out of the ground, and that’s all there is to it! I feel like there have to be some people out there who see pretty tulips around town and wish they could pick them to take home. This is your chance! At check-out there were flower cutting and wrapping stations with vases to take home as well!
As you might imagine, people usually think Kathy is my mom when we’re out with her!
There were also daffodils for 50 cents each!

Will insisted we take this photo for the blog, haha.
Has anyone else ever been to a tulip farm? We loved it!
