Hello, folks, I’m back after a quick little (two month) hiatus! I’ve really missed creating new posts in this space and am so happy to have found the time to work on it again. That made me think about my purpose for this little hobby. I meant to write a “why I started this blog” post at some point, and this is as good of a time as any!
When I posted my very first post on our anniversary weekend back in February, I knew what I didn’t want this blogging thing to be. I didn’t want it to be another item on my to-do list (even though I love to-do lists), and I didn’t want it to add guilt to my already fairly guilt-ridden load of personal goals. I hoped this outlet would allow me to create, encourage, document and inspire, not cause added stress. I’ve been working on giving myself grace, celebrating imperfect progress, and cultivating contentment over anxiety.
In short, I knew I only wanted to launch this space if it added joy to my life. I have always loved to document life in photos and text, and celebrating memories has always been important to me. (Ask anyone who grew up with me in high school and college!) So my purpose for this blog was for it to be a space to document the joys of our lives, motivate me to explore and try new things this month instead of “someday,” and pressure me to focus on the small, everyday blessings and events of our weeks.
All that being said, I probably needed this thing to experience some fits and starts in order to realize that it’s really ok for me to take a break every now and then and to appreciate how much it has enhanced our lives.
I am thrilled to be back, and I have so much to share with you.
