How We Did on our Fall Bucket List 2018

I see tomorrow (Thanksgiving!) as the last official day of fall, so before I dive head first into all the Christmas everything, I thought today would be a good time to look back at the fall season. It was such a special one with our growing girl and way more time in our new schedule to really check off our fall bucket list. I made one, but I didn’t post it here, and I want to record it for future reference, because it was a good one. So, without further ado, here is a recap of our fall celebrations–those we completed and those that are ideas to hang onto for next year!

  1. Carve Pumpkins. We didn’t personally carve a pumpkin this year, but it was going on at our Halloween party! I don’t really know when kids are old enough to help carve their own pumpkin, because I don’t feel like I’m old enough to carve a pumpkin sometimes, but I look forward to Victoria at least drawing/directing her design.
  2. Make Pumpkin Bread. We started this early with the Trader Joe’s pumpkin bread mix, and honestly, that stuff’s so good I didn’t feel the need to make it from scratch.
  3. Make Homemade Pumpkin Spice Lattes. I love making these on the stove with almond milk, vanilla, pumpkin pie spices, maple syrup, and espresso.
  4. Make Pumpkin Pancakes. See below. Will knocked this one out of the park the weekend of November 10th before our family shopping trip to get winter and maternity clothes. It was such a special family day!
  5. Make Apple Cider Pound Cake. You can see that fall baking is a major priority here. I didn’t get around to this this year, but my mom’s apple cider pound cake is one of my favorite recipes, so next year it needs to be on the list!
  6. Go to a College Football Game and an NFL Game. We went to a University of Maryland football game just for fun, but we didn’t make it to see the Panthers or the Redskins this year. 🙁 Hopefully next year!
  7. Host Our Annual Halloween Party. We did it!
  8. Go Apple and Pumpkin Picking at a Pumpkin Patch. Oh my,this was such a highlight  of the fall this year.
  9. Decorate the House for Fall. We did it, and we enjoyed it all season long!
  10. Go Leaf Peeping Along the Eastern Shore. Southern Living had a feature on stops along the Eastern Shore to visit, and we have been wanting to go for ages, but we just didn’t find a weekend this fall. Maybe in the spring it would be just as fun.
  11. Paint Nails Merlot. I did this back in September for the Making Things Happen conference!
  12. Go to the Renaissance FestivalWe didn’t make it, but I want to go next year, as we heard great things!
  13. Plan and Execute Family Halloween Costume. Done!
  14. Watch Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin. We didn’t get to this yet this year, as we aren’t doing screen time yet, but I look forward to when we can!
  15. Drive Skyline Drive. Sadly, this was the first year since we moved to DC we didn’t do this I think. But we’ll get back to it. It’s so beautiful.
  16. Go to a Bonfire. We had two: one at the pumpkin patch and one at our church’s fall retreat!
  17. Enjoy our Fourth Fall Retreat in West Virginia. Wouldn’t miss it!
  18. Take our Girl Trick-or-Treating in our Neighborhood. This was so much more than I expected–apparently our neighborhood is known for trick-or-treating, and we had no idea!
