Friday Favorites No. 42: New Shoes and a New Show

Happy Friday! We got back from Asheville on Sunday evening and then just dove into a great, uneventful week of our regular routine, which is exactly how I like it. One big highlight was when I picked up the baby monitor yesterday to see a certain baby girl standing in her crib! This is quite a feat considering that she was wearing a sleep sack, but I guess it’s time!

Anyway, here’s what else was up this week.

Royal Baby Watch and Royal Wedding Preparations

What a fun treat for spring to have a new royal baby and a royal wedding! I haven’t been as great about watching Kate’s maternity styles this time around, but I am tuned in and on high alert now. You know I’ll be trained on that Lindo Wing live cam when I hear she’s gone to the hospital. Also, my brilliant friend Danielle made us reservations for a royal-wedding watching party on the 19th, and now I’m on the hunt for a fitting dress for my little Princess Victoria. 🙂

The Gal Meets Glam Collection Comes Out Today!

Julia Engel is the queen of feminine dresses, so it seems fitting that she’s coming out with her own line of dresses today! They will be live soon on the Gal Meets Glam site, but you can see them on Nordstrom now! I love the vintage, demure silhouettes, particularly this one and this one.

Help Me Pick Some New Sneakers

All the stereotypes are true, and now that I’m a mom, I really do run around in leggings and sneakers most days. And I really didn’t wear or have that many pairs of tennis shoes before, so I am in the market for a new pair! The idea is not to actually work out in these, but just for them to be comfortable and still look somewhat stylish. I am debating between these New Balances, some classic Stan Smiths, or the adorable sparkly Kate Spade Keds. What do you think? I want all of them for different occasions!

Post on Being Present

In my ongoing quest to put the phone down and do things the old-fashioned way, I am always looking for good advice. And this week, my friend Emily posted a whole host of it on the Cultivate What Matters blog! Read it here. I’m already implementing some of these tips!

New TV Show: Rise

It’s possible this show may be a little racy for my taste, but you know I can’t resist the rag-tag-team-of-high-school-kids(there’s always some dedicated theater nerds and the token jock who never considered theater) put-on-a-show plotline, complete with the dedicated teacher who is looking for meaning in his/her work and finds it through the school musical. Yes, it’s been done, but it’s so good because it’s true and sweet. I’ve been meaning to get on board with this show for a while, and it did not disappoint when I finally did. But let it be known that if real high schools ever produce Spring Awakening, then I’ll have seen everything. I’ll suspend my disbelief.
