Hello friends! Friday is upon us, and that means college football is only one day away! We were looking ahead to our fall and realized that our weekends are pretty full from now through Thanksgiving (which always seems to happen in the fall), so this weekend we are rallying the troops to take advantage of a free Saturday and watch about 10 straight hours of college football. Woot. In other news, here’s what’s been up with our life this week:

Cirque du Soleil’s “Kurios”

We started last weekend with a trip to see Cirque du Soleil in Tysons with my office, and I can report that Cirque is still some weird and amazing stuff. The last time I went was to see Mystere in Vegas in middle school, and this production seemed pretty similar, especially in that the contortionists are still insane. This production was actually in a tent and had a much more circus-y feel and was also “steampunk.” (Look it up.) We had a great dinner at the Lebanese Taverna beforehand, and it was an awesome night of entertainment.

A Beautiful Nashville Wedding at the Belle Meade Plantation
So we basically go to Nashville once a month now, and I should probably rename the tagline to this blog “on life in the capital and Nashville.” This time we took a really quick trip to this gorgeous wedding at the Belle Meade Plantation to celebrate our friends Ginny and Jim. Ginny is stunning and also an incredible event planner, so naturally this was a lovely evening. The decor was perfectly Tennessee, all shabby chic and rustically elegant. The cocktail hour was in the carriage house, and the dancing was in a nearby stable with all the saddles and vintage marquee lights. We had a blast dancing to the 10-piece band, Ginny looked like a movie star, and we also snuck in some sweet snuggles with baby Amelia. 🙂

The Blogtember Challenge prompt today is, “how do you de-stress/take care of yourself?” So I thought I would share my experience with Skyfit! It’s an awesome app that has running programs with great music and trainers telling you what to do in your headphones. Pippa and I have been loving getting up early a couple days this week and getting outside, and this thing might make me actually enjoy running! Stay tuned, because we were only successful twice this week, but I think it has a lot of promise.

The World Cup of Hockey
On Tuesday, we went to my very first hockey game! It was the USA v. Finland in the World Cup of Hockey at the Verizon Center, so it was a good start. It was really exciting. I loved that the ice sweepers came out in a flying V to clean the ice. And we obviously won. USA! USA! USA!

I got an Anthropologie catalogue this week, flipped through it, and was super impressed. Have you taken a look lately? I’ve mentioned how much I love our Anthro rug, but I think they are taking a decidedly glam and even preppy turn here. Can we talk about this pineapple wallpaper?? Clearly our apartment is finished, but wallpaper is back, people, and I’m using it in our next place. I love this one too. And this sweet print that looks like Pippa.
Here’s what else was up on the blog this week:
I picked my favorites from the new Lilly line.
Wedding Wednesday brought you the second dose of engagement photos.
I shared my birthday wish list.
How was your week?
