We went up to the Shenandoah Valley’s Skyline Drive this weekend with our friends Ben and Leslie, and it was so much fun! Unfortunately the other half of our crew fell ill with some plague through the course of Friday and Saturday, but the still-healthy four of us pressed on. The foliage wasn’t quite as spectacular as it was last year, but we had a great day nonetheless.

The Farm
We then stopped by a couple of orchards on the way home for apples, pumpkins, cider, honey, and apple butter. There were so many along the road in the Blue Ridge mountains it was hard to choose!
My sunglasses are vintage Ray-Bans cribbed from Mom’s stash of ski gear from the 80s, but these are similar.
So I used to think it was super weird and awkward when people wore Hunters if it wasn’t raining. But then I saw the light for things like farms and mud, because the ability to just wipe these things down and not worry about ruining them while you’re out having fun in the mud is totally worth it. It rained the day before we went out, so I was totally justified.
The adorable humans on the right went and made apple crumble at home after this.
