Tulips found in Rosslyn.
So, fun story. Pippa and I got up super early yesterday morning to finally go see those cherry blossoms. I knew we had missed the peak, but I also heard that it’s still pretty for a while after the peak. Well, it was FRIGID yesterday morning. It felt like our wedding day, in that I couldn’t feel my hands. But Pippa and I parked pretty far away and soldiered our way over to the Tidal Basin, just KNOWING it would be so beautiful and worth it. The “cherry blossoms” looked like this:
A little more like claws than flowers, right? It was like the Tim Burton cherry blossom festival. It turns out that 60-mph wind storm we had the night before took no blossom prisoners. But still, A for effort.
In light of our 30 degree morning, how is it already April? I think that means I didn’t do fantastically with my March goals. But, the good news is I think this is working, because there were times I thought about doing things on my March goals list, knowing that I would have to report back. And there were even a few times I was legitimately successful! But progress, not perfection, people. This might be super boring since a lot of last month’s goals are going right back on this list, but that is kind of the point. (Also, I will put things on these lists I know are going to happen, because I have to hand myself some easy points for morale.)
Here’s what I want to accomplish this month:
- Spring Cleaning Re-do! Clean out and reorganize guest room closet and move spring clothes into master! (Lord willing one day it will actually be warm enough for those Lilly shifts.)
- Throw a baby shower in Nashville! I’m so excited about this sweet girls’ weekend, with some of my oldest friends. I can’t wait to celebrate Paige and finally see that bump in person!
- Go to Williamsburg with Mom. This is also going to be amazing–we’ve talked about doing this for forever! Pray for good weather, please.
- Put all photos on Smug Mug and into Photos app. I haven’t been very organized with the photos I’ve taken with my DSLR. They need to all be in chronological order in all the places.
- Write down two “personal to-dos” each night. And actually do them the next day. I have had a hard time moving the ball forward on those little to-dos that need to get done but aren’t urgent any specific day. (Shout out to my gmail account–long time, no see.)
- Learn Photography. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming.
- Read at Least One Book Cover to Cover. This is my standing goal for 2016.
- Go See The Flick. Lucky for me they extended the run.
I’ll let you know how it goes!
March Goals Update:
- Spring Cleaning! Clean out and reorganize guest room closet
and kitchen pantry cabinets.Kitchen done! Start Powersheets. As Lara Casey says, “There’s nothing magical about January 1st.” (And hopefully make time to compare notes with Erin!)The conference was like a live, interactive powersheets session. Count it!Get Inspired at the Making Things Happen Conference. I’m SO EXCITED about this one. Much more to come on this.I’ll post about this soon!- Learn Photography. Maybe I won’t become a pro this month, but I want to get comfortable with my camera’s settings and the basics. (As you can see from the photo above, I’m not quite there yet!)
Read at Least One Book Cover to Cover. This is my standing goal for 2016.Embarrassed to say, this was the latest book in The Selection series. I don’t recommend them, but I had to know what happens.Go See Two Plays. I’m hoping to catch The City of Conversationand The Flick. I’ll report back. Saw The City of Conversation and blogged about it here. It was great! The Flick is still on the list (and still playing).- Explore Old Town Alexandria. Alexandria was named the most romantic city in America recently, I live next door, and I haven’t even been yet? This must be remedied. Moving this to May (April weekends are busy.)
- Finally Get Will (and Pippa) on a Hike in Great Falls with Me. Someday soon!
