We had the most fun hosting some old college friends for dinner this weekend! I was feeling all the spring feels and pastel things, so I busted out our Spode Blue Italian and tried to exhibit self-restraint with everything else. I love this china. It’s so classic (released in 1816) and charming. And you can’t go wrong with pink and blue!
The added benefit of this simple color scheme is that it blends right in with the rest of our everyday decor, like our Erin Gregory print, Signs of Summer.
I really love that we can pull these blue beauties out when we want something bright and festive, but we also have ivory everyday plates and ivory more formal china for mixing and matching with colorful linens as well.
I also just love the Schott Zwiesel wine glasses that we got as wedding gifts, especially because they’re monogrammed! Those Ms make me so happy.
I tied in some pinks in the bouquet on the buffet as well.
The theme was simplicity! I made a simple salad, a mediterranean chicken dish (that I’m obsessed with lately) from The Fresh 20 , roasted veggies, and this Southern Living lemon pie in individual tart portions. The pie could not have been easier, but I made it look fancier by putting it in these mini pie crusts and adding homemade whipped cream and lemon zest on top.
It was so wonderful to catch up with old friends, introduce them to Will, and reminisce about our college days. It’s nights like this that make DC feel like home–more people we know live here than we thought!
