Happy Labor Day! I know the secret is definitely out about Reese Witherspoon’s adorable clothing line, Draper James, and I can report it is as darling as it looks! I have always been a huge Reese fan. She really is America’s sweetheart, and from Legally Blonde to Sweet Home Alabama, how do you not love her? She is so down-to-earth, spunky, and fun.
One of my favorite things about Reese has always been her ladylike Southern style, and how she dresses with such flawless feminine taste, never getting too edgy or weird just because she’s a celebrity. Well, we’re all in luck, because Reese has brought her demure, girly, June Cash wardrobe to Nashville and a website near you!
My mom and I snuck away from my grandparents’ anniversary weekend for a couple hours to do some damage, and I genuinely think I tried on every dress and top in the store. It’s just all that cute!
I kind of love how unabashedly Daisy Mae some of the fabrics are. It’s like the Tennessee Southern belle’s casual, ladylike, effortless-but-bold style has been bottled up into one store. And really, the over-the-top charm of these clothes kind of remind me of a Southern lady herself. Too much is never enough, people.
I also love how all the styles are named after local Nashville and Tennessee locations. And Reese is from Nashville, so she comes by it honestly!
It’s also not just clothes. Reese has already expanded into stationary and housewares Kate Spade-style.
Obviously Mom and I don’t get to shop together very often anymore like we used to, so these times when we can are so special. We have been shopping together for a long time, so we know our strategy!
What other clothing store offers you sweet tea while you shop? It’s a risky move but so impressive that they are willing to undergo the hassle and potential mess in the name of Southern hospitality. Reese has said she wants the shopping experience to feel like going over to someone’s house, and it sure does when someone offers you a glass of sweet tea!
I am so into bright yellow dresses, so naturally, I had to have this.
I can’t believe I have gotten this far in the post without even mentioning the interior design of the store. Mark D. Sikes designed the store to look like a modern Southern woman’s home, and I would absolutely live here. The old and new mix of classic patterned wallpaper and metallic gold shelves + light fixtures is very similar to Draper James’s classic but unexpected dresses.
You’ve already seen me in this top, and I wore it again yesterday. The mini pom poms are my fave.
We definitely didn’t want to check out! Do you see those striped French barstools?
If this is what Reese’s home looks like, it’s vintage but definitely not stuffy.
Mom is also coming to DC for my birthday in early October. I can’t wait!
