Today’s link-up theme is holiday outfits! And you know, I am all about the opportunities that the month of December gives me to get all dressed up for office parties, galas, and Christmas weddings, but by the time the main event rolls around and I am at home with family, I am usually ready for a comfy sweater and some jeans with a hint of spandex. So today I am sharing one of my favorite new J. Crew fair isle sweaters and an outfit you would find me in around the tree on the big day.

This year, we are kicking off the holidays with a St. Louis wedding (have I ever mentioned how magical winter weddings are?!?! Especially in St. Louis?? Can’t wait.) and some time with my family in Missouri. Then we are flying back to DC and loading Pippa up for a road trip to North Carolina for the real deal. We are excited to see all of our family in the span of a week!
Folks, I know you thought I loved tartan the most, but it’s a close call between that and fair isle. I love that my mom has fair isle sweaters from the early 80s that are totally current and classic today. A good fair isle sweater just doesn’t go out of style, and you can add that to the reasons that winter is my favorite season (after skiing, of course).
Mom took these photos while checking another one of my favorite holiday activities off my list of new traditions: Christmas shopping in Georgetown!
